Our group is broadly interested in astrophysical magnetic fields and astophysical flows mainly focusing on the stellar and exoplanetary wind, and their magnetic fields. We use 2.5D and 3D dynamo models to study generation and evolution of solar and stellar magnetic fields. We also use 3D radiaton MHD models for exoplanet atmospheres, their escape processes and interaction of stellar acivity with them.
3D Solar Dynamo Model- STABLE
In our group, we use 3D dynamo models to study the solar magnetic field. We use observational data available for the Sun from various space instruments to understand the interior dynamo process.
Planetary Outflows
Similar to stellar wind, the planetary outflows are origintating from planets. However, unlike stellar wind, the driver of the planetary outflows is stellar heating that leads to photoionisation, collisional ionisation resulting in lifting up material from the planet.
Star-planet interaction
Stellar wind from the star including flares and coronal mass ejection plays an important role in the evolution of the planetary atmosphere.
Influence of stellar cycle on planetary atmosphere
Stellar magnetic cycle influences the planetary mass loss rate depending upon the strengh of the cycle.
